Duchesse satin numbers among the luxury fabrics. It is tightly woven with an attractive, satiny shine and holds its shape beautifully, forming soft, smooth, but sturdy folds. A perennial favorite for bridal and evening gowns, it also looks great in little black dresses, cocktail numbers, and dressy jackets.
Bring it into your interior designs as curtains or throw pillows for a look of subtle luxury, where it can be an elegant, understated alternative to brocade.
This ivory duchesse satin is woven of a mix of rayon and polyester. The rayon content lends it breathability that pure polyester satins may lack, while the polyester steps up to make it more durable and wrinkle-resistant. Compared to a pure silk duchesse, this blend is heavier, glossier, and also less pricy – a quality you are sure to welcome if you have a tight budget or just want to experiment with duchesse.
This fabric has a stiff hand; if you need something with the same shine, but more drape, have a look at our silk satins.
With its unique qualities, duchesse can make a simple, full skirt into an event. It is so popular for bridal fashions that it is sometimes called bridal satin. Take it up a notch in combination with organza, chiffon, lace, or tulle.
We recommend dry cleaning this fabric at a reliable dry cleaner. If you risk hand washing, use lukewarm or cold water; do not wring or squeeze dry; block dry on a flat surface. Dry iron on the back on the lowest setting. Avoid water droplets.
The minimum fabric order is a length of 20 cm.
Let the recommended care notes in the fabric description be your guide – it will tell you if the fabric can be washed or steam ironed. For larger projects or more expensive fabrics, we recommend testing anything (washing, ironing, etc.) on a sample – natural and semi-synthetic materials (including brocades) are never absolutely predictable.
Most of our fabrics are one-time offers that last until they are sold out. For brocades, however, we regularly repeat some classic patterns and popular color combinations are often reissued. Look at the product's availability value – it shows whether the goods are available while supplies last with no reorder planned, or if it's part of a seasonal collection, where we order goods from a relatively stable selection at our manufacturer and regularly restock the most popular color combinations.
The goods in the seasonal collection come directly from our verified manufacturers. We change up the colors on offer from season to season but fabric quality is always constant. For large (wholesale) orders, colors that have been sold out can be reordered individually.
