We have a soft spot for historical reenactment. The folks involved pursue absolute authenticity in replicating historical fashion (see #fashion history), reviving forgotten crafts, and delving into all areas of everyday life in various historical periods. Thanks to this great community – those who do historical swordplay, period dancing, dying crafts, and historical cuisine, among others – we have met lots of interesting people, discovered the magic of making things by hand, and been inspired to investigate countless historical textile treasures. This inspiration has led us to study textile production, learn the art of hand weaving, visit museums and search through publications of textile collections. We offer what we’ve learned and notes on our forays into the past in the posts here.
